Topographic Planetary Study with Augmented Reality - CEIP Beatriz Galindo
09/November/201770 students - 6º Primaria
On the 9th of November, 70 students from CEIP Beatriz Galindo came to ESAC to learn about the topographic studies, using among other resources, augmented reality.
During the visit, we divided the students into two groups, one of them visited the scale models of ESA’s missions like Gaia, Rosetta, Herschel, SoHO or ISO. In the meantime, the other group realized the scientific case about topographic studies, they learnt about building contour lines maps and to use them to localize locations for dams or identify the highest zones of the Earth.
Using augmented reality, they could consolidate this knowledge, modeling with their own hands different features with sand over which an image was projected using different colors to represent the heights.
The students had lots of questions regarding the life of astronauts, the problems associated with space debris or the possibility of life in other planets. We are sure that after this visit their curiosity has increased.
We hope to see you again soon!
