Eclipse Observatory I

In this activity, students will learn how a solar eclipse affects the environmental conditions around us. They will build their own observatory to measure changes in light, temperature and sound during this astronomical phenomenon.

AGE: 10-12 years

OBJECTIVES:

  • Create an observatory that measures the environmental conditions during a solar eclipse (those that will occur in Spain in 2026, 2027 and 2028). In particular, measure:
  • Flow emission.
  • Noise.
  • Temperature.

KEY COMPETENCES (LOMLOE):

  • Learning to learn.
  • Digital competence.
  • STEAM competition.
  • Social competence.

MATERIALS:

  • Computer with internet access.
  • 1 microbit.
  • MakeCode for microbit.
