In this activity, students will discover how the Sun produces its energy and how it travels through its different inner layers (core, radiative layer, and convective layer) and features of solar activity in the photosphere and chromosphere. They will learn to identify each of them and understand the importance of the Sun as a source of light and life on Earth.

• Identify the Sun as a source of light and energy.

MATERIALS:

• iPad with Tinkercad account.
• 3D model of the Sun (physical or tinkercad)
• Polystyrene hemispheres: 16, 18 and 20 cm in diameter.
• Finger paint and markers.
