Topographic studies with augmented reality - Carmen Hernández Guarch
31/May/2018
49 students - 5º Primaria

During last thursday, students from the school Carmen Hernández Guarch came to ESAC to enjoy the scientific case about topographic studies with augmented reality.

In this scientific case they learn concepts about topography and apply them directly for example to land a mission in another planet or identify the highest a lowest zones of the Earth. The part that most impressed both students and teaches is the augmented reality sandbox: using 3D cameras and a projector we are able to modified surface features with our own hands and then they are collored by heights in real time. After the scientific case we went for a small fou talking about the scale models of space missions ESA had acomplished like Gaia or Rosetta. They also had the opportunity to touch a section of an Ariane 5 rocket or a 3D printed model of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko 67P that rosetta visited.

We hope to see you soon again!
